                 Scene 2

                Characters: grandfather, Gina, Audrey, Zyrus

TEXT

Gina: Grandfather, grandfather, look here, we have found
something very beautiful in your attic.
Grandfather: OK my sweetheart, what did you find there?
Gina: This painting grandfather. Isn't it wonderful?
Ardrey: Is it yours? Wasn't it very expensive?
Zyrus: Who painted it? It's a hat, isn't it?
Grandfather: (laughing) Oh kids! I'm an old man. Don't ask me so many
questions at the same time. I'll tell you about the painting,
but it's a very long story:

Once upon a time, there was an old witch called Zenobia.
She was a good witch, of course, but she hadn't done
                         much for mankind before.
Not many people knew that she had magical powers, but
they wouldn't believe her anyway, she thought.
But why were some people able to do magic? she
wondered. Wasn't there a better reason than just making
tea without standing up or flying on a broomstick?
She was living happily in her house and never had to be
hungry or look for a place to sleep.
                         Why didn't she help people?
One day, she took her sewing utensils and started making
                         clothes for people.
After working for a whole day, all her material was used
used up. There was only a little bit left.

                       Scene 3

Behind the transparent mirror, Zenobia appears and the
audience can see and hear her.

TEXT

Zenobia: There isn't enough to make another cloak or shirt..
I'll make a wonderful hat with it. (starts working) It
It shall be the best hat that has ever been made by
                                     someone.
Phoo, I'm very tired after all this work, but I want
to put all the rest of my energy and all my wisdom,
everything good from me and everything I'm able
to do in it, so that it will be a very special hat that
                                     no one else has...
I feel I'm getting weaker and weaker and that the
hat is getting stronger and stronger...
I'll have finished soon. OK. that's it...That's my hat,
my wisdom, my energy, my power, my life...
